Common questions
Can I get a sick note without seeing a doctor?
No. A medical certificate can only be issued after you've been assessed by the doctor, and only when it's clinically appropriate.
Can you backdate a sick note?
A certificate reflects what the doctor finds when they assess you. We can't certify illness we didn't assess, so see us as early as possible while you're sick.
How much does it cost?
You pay for the consultation (R500 or R600 depending on the provider, or scheme rates on most medical aids). There's no separate fee for the certificate.
Do you see children for school notes?
Yes, we see children and families. Bring your child's Road-to-Health booklet if they have one.
